The majestic building surrounded by world famous Chinar trees whose specialty is that its leaves turn red in autumn and are a treat to watch; even Mrs. Indira Gandhi was so fascinated by this spectacle that she would visit Kashmir in late October to enjoy the beautiful view provided by the falling leaves. The club was designed by the British Architects on the pattern of British Clubs because both are situated in cold climate. It covers an overall area of ten acres of land .It has specious lush green lawns, one tennis court, badminton court and two Dr.Karan Singh Squash courts. A twelve room guest house was added by the legendary Sher- i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah in the year 1978. The club offer all the activities/facilities that one expects from a modern club. However the club billiards hall has a unique ambiance with no parallel in the country.
